LCD screen TV question?

I'm looking around for a good brand (LG, Sony, etc) LCD TV that will look amazing when playing Xbox 360. I am not a big movie watcher so that won't be an issue. I just need to know what kind of things to look for such as the lingo like 1080p, 6000:1, and hdmi inputs. Any help in simple terminology would be appreciated.
