When and how are demmurrers served on plantiffs in an unlimited civil lawsuit?

I am currently going through a unlimited civil lawsuit, My attorney has filed my claim aganist the defendents but they have yet to respond with an anwser . It is in the last week of there deadline to anwser the claim . I am wondering what the possible hold up could be . The only thing I can think of other than a default judgement is possibly a demmurrer , and would also like to know when and how the plantiff is notified if a demmurer has been filed .
