Would it be worth it to try and file a lawsuit?

While my husband was incarcerated he got MRSA, was in an accident where an elevator had dropped, and had to sleep on the floor for several days. Another inmate that was involved in the elevator accident filed one against the jail and they are going for $100,000. Would it be worth it to file one as well? The thing is my husband wasn't sent to medical after the elevator incident so I don't know if he could file for that but he does get extreme anxiety in elevators now. Please don't be rude with responses. I am just curious. I have been working and being an honest person and he's trying to make a better life for our family so do not be criticial. Thank you.
